The offerings of Cain and Abel to God, in Genesis 4, come as one of the first acts the children of Adam and Eve perform. They make a sacrifice from their labours, yet one is received with favour by God and the other is not. What is the difference between their offerings? What is it that so sharply separates those offerings? It seems to not be what is seen but what is unseen that distinguishes them.
In this reflection we ponder what this says about worship, how it challenges the quality of our own offerings to God and it also reveals things about the offering of Christ.
