Ancient document discovered....

An Early Christian Risk Assessment discovered in ancient temple. Unknown date. But thought to be about 65 ad There were no names on the document and no  highlighting of important areas.

Christianity is spreading quite quickly so we do need to keep things under control to make sure people don’t get the wrong idea about us. We strongly support the Roman Empire who are doing everything in their power to maintain a peaceful and healthy commonwealth. Likewise the Jewish leaders need to be involved and not alienated. We must fully respect the laws.
1. When healing especially lepers do maintain an adequate distance – there is to be no laying on of hands unless specially authorised by the central Jerusalem committee. Don’t cure anyone without first checking with his/her local doctor to make completely sure of what they are being cured of.

2. We had an incident of a lady falling out of a window during one of Paul’s sermons so in future there will no preaching unless all people are seated on the floor, windows shut and bolted. Paul managed to bring her back but this sort of thing can’t happen again.

3. Another incident, Philip mounted the chariot of a eunuch. This was not wise as it might have had no insurance and the person was quietly reading at the time. It turned out okay but could have been disastrous so in future, please check that the driver is insured for two passengers and not just one. We don’t want a diplomatic incident. Also, you should avoid doing anything that seems to give approval to this man’s condition. Leaving abruptly is not to be encouraged.

4. Preaching the gospel requires great sensitivity and we don’t want to offend anyone. In the light of several riots and the storming of shops, before any public sermon, we should like a risk assessment done. Several peoples lively hood was put at risk. Local gods should be made welcome and not offended. a. Try and put up and display a notice which gives a clear evacuation guide b. A brief length of the sermon should be given, some have been quite long.

5. Raising the dead: first check, if they are wanted back. Can they be adequately supported? Will they be a burden on the community? If raised, they should immediately undergo a deep cleaning, a change of clothes. We strongly advise that the person doing the miracle is wearing a face mask. We can’t afford to put anyone in danger.

6. Simon Magus has made a claim against us that we undercut his business. We have settled but in future be sensitive to people who might have a similar business to ours. We maybe more effective but differences should be respected.

7. Raising money: great sensitivity required here. There was a general touting for money to support Jerusalem but it got out of hand. No accurate accounts appear to have been kept and no receipts issued. People must be made completely aware of how their money will be used.

8. Sea voyages: a lot of problems here. One was shipwrecked and blamed upon us. So I am afraid land journeys only now are acceptable.

9. When imprisoned, please do not make matters worse by converting the guards, it always ends up in more trouble for the authorities. If  you do leave a prison, please leave a note explaining how it happened and that  you were quite happy with your treatment and that the guards were not responsible.

10. We do encourage sports and to use images in preaching is powerful; but avoid discrimination. Boxing should not be used as it is very risky and also chariot racing. Athletics is good but very male dominated at this time so please involve some female events.

11. In the event of being fed to the wild animals, we shall ensure that your next of kin are notified. But if you are the main support for your family, you should step back from this and we dispense you from having to give witness to your faith in this instance. a. Simply standing still and beckoning to the animals is not to be encouraged. Animals can suffer trauma when in a strange environment and witnessing strange behaviour.

12. Jewish converts do find the new life difficult;  so painful as it may sound, do try and be accommodating.

13. Paul has managed to disrupt a few legitimate trials that he was involved in which  undermined the whole justice system and brings us into disrepute. Please respect the law and the status quo.

We have had several requests that more female members be brought into central administration and government and even requests that since they help out a lot with food and do a lot of waitressing that they too could be deacons. We have to admit that we have been quite male dominated recently but fully intend to change this. Our brothers in  Germania are leading the way here and in Rome we were pleased to see that we have been inclusive of local popular deities.

Above all be safe. This is a difficult time and we can’t have any undue wastage of preachers at this critical juncture of time. If in doubt take time out.
